Future Harvest

Future Harvest helps Europe’s next generation of farmers build resilient, regenerative and profitable farms.

What is Future Harvest?

Future Harvest is designed to tackle the decline in generational renewal and the decreasing attractiveness of farming as a viable career.

The programme trains, empowers and connects young and future farmers, equipping them with regenerative agriculture, digital, business and entrepreneurial skills to strengthen farm resilience and long-term viability.

In 2026, Future Harvest aims to reach 900 young and next-generation farmers across multiple European countries.

Why Europe needs Future Harvest

European agriculture is at a critical crossroads. According to the EU CAP Network, Only around 11% of EU farm managers are under the age of 40, while farmers face increasing pressure from climate change, rising input costs, market volatility and fragmented land structures.

Small and medium-sized farms are particularly affected, struggling with profitability, succession planning and access to innovation. Without targeted support, Europe risks a generational breakdown in farming, with consequences for rural livelihoods, environmental stewardship and long-term food security.

In addition to demographic pressure, young and future farmers face:

  • Limited access to affordable land and financing mechanisms
  • Increasing complexity of sustainability and regulatory requirements
  • A gap between available innovation and practical on-farm adoption
  • Limited access to peer networks and advisory support tailored to new entrants

A European programme, locally delivered
